Foot Locker slips into Bullring

By Paul Norman - Friday, February 03, 2012 11:30

Hammerson has secured Footlocker’s second Locker Room store in the UK at its Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham.

The letting follows the concept’s European launch at Brent Cross Shopping Centre in November 2011.

Locker Room has taken a 6,000 sq ft store for its sports performance footwear paying an undisclosed rent. The first Locker Room store outside of London is expected to open in time for Easter trading at Bullring.

Locker Room will replace Clintons Cards, which is relocating to the former 3,200 sq ft Birthday’s unit and the new store will include Clinton’s new style shop fit.

Martin Plocica , Hammerson portfolio director, said: “Bullring has a longstanding pedigree in securing emerging concepts and it’s fantastic to have attracted Locker Room. To be one of the top retail destinations we have to constantly evolve our tenant mix and adding a niche offer from a popular retailer helps satisfy consumers’ increasingly sophisticated appetite for new retail experiences.”

The 1.3m sq ft shopping centre managed by Hammerson is owned in a three-way joint venture between Hammerson, Henderson Global Investors and Future Fund.

Cushman & Wakefield and Bidwell, Webber, De Pons acted on behalf of Hammerson and Brasier Freith acted on behalf of Foot Locker.
