RE: Women, a networking group promoting gender equality and diversity in the real estate sector, is holding an event later this month focused on trends and challenges in real estate financing.

The talk is being hosted by Brown Rudnick at the law firm's offices in Mayfair on 19 September and will explore how the changing global economy, political uncertainties and increased credit risk is affecting investments in commercial property, the ability to improve house affordability and regenerate derelict areas.

Its panelists will also address the role of women in shaping the state of borrowing and lending in property. Speakers for the event are Laura Denenga, vice-president of Quadrant Real Estate Advisors, Gabrielle Berring, head of major private groups at Lloyds Banking Group and Omega Poole, a partner at Brown Rudnick.

Women are still severely under-represented in senior roles in the City, leading the government to launch a Women in Finance Charter initiative last year. The charter was launched following a review conducted by Virgin Money boss Jayne-Anne Gadhia’s into the representation of women in senior management in financial services.

More than 140 firms have now signed the charter, pledging to promote gender diversity by carrying out actions recommended in the review, such as setting internal targets for gender diversity in senior management. RE:Women said the panelists will provide personal insights on trends and challenges in real estate finance.
