Capital & Regional has secured a new letting at its Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch to outdoor clothing retailer and Commonwealth Games supplier Trespass.

The Glasgow-based sportswear brand, which kitted out all 15,000 volunteers at the 2014 Commonwealth Games,  has agreed a five-year lease for a 2,117 sq ft unit on Walford Walk.

This follows on from recent announcements including HMV, Poundstretcher, 360 Play and The Range – Capital & Regional’s largest letting to date. The Range opened a 47,000 sq ft store, which was previously occupied by BHS, in July, while 360 Play opened its first family entertainment venue within a shopping centre in February this year.

Sian Bowen, Retail Asset Manager for Capital & Regional, said: “Trespass are one of the most recognised names in outdoor family clothing, and it’s exactly this kind of quality that we continue to bring to the Kingfisher Shopping Centre. We’re very happy to see Trespass open as it serves to reinforce and complement our increasingly strong and diverse retail offer.”

Afzal Khushi, director at Trespass said: “Trespass looks forward to bringing its exciting technical performance outerwear offer to the Kingfisher Centre in Redditch. Trespass are genuinely enthused about obtaining representation within the Kingfisher Centre and the town of Redditch. Redditch is a major population centre and one which offers a real opportunity for a quality outdoor retailer. We view Redditch as an important link in the Trespass chain of stores and a location that fills a gap in our representation in the Midlands. We commence fitting out and refurbishment works on 16th October and look forward to trading from our brand new store in the first week of November.”

The Kingfisher is owned by Oaktree Capital Management in partnership with Capital & Regional. It is anchored by Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Next, Primark and The Range and attracts over 10m visitors a year. The centre was refinanced with a £113m loan provided by Goldman Sachs this summer.

KLM and Jamieson Mills are the leasing consultants. Tom Keys-Toyer of SiteWorks Retail Real Estate Services represented Trespass.
