Kier Property, the property arm of the Kier Group, has bought a 4.97 acre site known as Jarman Fields in Hemel Hempstead where it plans to develop a 72,000 sq ft retail warehouse scheme.

Kier Property bought the freehold interest from Dacorum Borough Council for an undisclosed price in a deal that will see Kier Property develop a retail warehouse scheme in a terrace comprising an A3/coffee pod and units from 7,500 sq ft.

Fronting St Albans Road, the site is located adjoining Tesco Extra and the Jarman Square leisure complex offering a Cineworld cinema and a number of mainstream food and beverage outlets.

This is Kier Property’s second scheme in the town having previously developed the Travelodge on Wolsey Road.

Pip Prongué - managing director for Kier Property (South) commented: “This scheme sees Kier Property invest further in Hemel Hempstead, and will create around 74 new jobs. It increases the footprint of retail schemes we have across the UK. To date Kier Property has developed 13 retail and leisure schemes and we see this sector and location significant in our expansion plans.”
