Crazy golf and street food concept Swingers has announced plans to launch its second venue inside the former BHS store on Oxford Street.

The Institute of Competitive Socialising, the events group behind Swingers, will open a 20,000 sq ft unit - where the BHS cafe once stood -in February 2018.

The first venue opened last year underneath the Gherkin tower in the City after a successful pop-up in Shoreditch featuring two nine-hole crazy golf courses, four bars and three street food stalls in residence.

Whereas Swingers City reimagined a 1920s English country golf club set in rolling, lush grounds, Swingers West End will have a seaside theme and reimagine "the faded glamour of the 1920s English Riviera".

The venue will be accessed through a hidden entrance in the form of a seaside souvenir shop on John Prince’s Street, just off Oxford Street.

Inside there will be two 9-hole crazy golf courses - The Big Wheel Course and the Helter Skelter Course – decked with jumps, loops and moving obstacles, where caddies will serve cocktails to guests as they play.

The Promenade, a lamppost lined boardwalk, will overlook one of the crazy golf courses on one side and will be lined with beach huts housing street food vendors on the other side.

It will also be fitted out with two seaside themed bars - The Bandstand Bar and The Grand Hotel Bar, which will be a freestanding building inspired by the palm courts of the grand hotels of Eastbourne and Brighton.

The latest letting comes after Polish fashion fashion Reserved opened a 32,000 sq ft store on the BHS site last month, enlisting supermodel Kate Moss and long-time friend of former BHS owner Sir Philip Green to front its campaign.

Swingers co-founder and MD Matt Grech-Smith said: “When we first combined crazy golf with cocktails and street food at our pop-up back in 2014, because it had never been done before, we had no idea how enthusiastically our concept would be received. Fast forward three years and Swingers City has been off the chart and has truly put the crazy in crazy golf – we can’t wait to do it all over again, breathing new life into an iconic location in the West End”.
