M&G Real Estate has signed fitness chain The Gym at the Gracechurch Centre in Sutton Coldfield.

The Gym will open a 14,500 sq ft premises in the centre later this year on a 15-year lease.

This will be the brand’s first premises in Sutton Coldfield, building on a portfolio of 95 gyms nationally which offer affordable, high spec 24/7 fitness facilities. Works are due to commence imminently ahead of its opening in late autumn 2017.

Rupert Milne, asset manager at M&G Real Estate, said: “Sutton Coldfield is a dominant retail and leisure hub for the West Midlands and the arrival of The Gym demonstrates The Gracechurch Centre is an ideal trading location for key brands.

“Since acquiring the centre in 2013, we have worked hard to align the needs of customers in the local community. With the enhancements we have made to the line-up to date, major brands like The Gym acknowledge the importance of this location for their businesses. We hope to continue the momentum, attracting more aspirational brands to the town over the coming months.”

The 545,000 sq ft Gracechurch Centre, which is owned by M&G Real Estate, includes Topshop, M&S, Next, H&M, Fatface, Office and Pandora among its retail roster.

KLM Retail and Cushman & Wakefield represented M&G Real Estate. Retail Property Consultants represented The Gym.
