Ærium has agreed an 8,558 sq ft lease with IDEO, the global design firm, at its newly refurbished 115,000 sq ft of Herbal House in Clerkenwell.

IDEO is taking comprising the entire 6th and 7th floors as the new home for its London business. This is the second letting at the property following an agreement for a 10-year lease across 37,000 sq ft to Photobox, Europe’s leading digital consumer service for personalised products and gifts.

Herbal House is the former home to the Daily Mirror print works and location of seminal photo/video shoots for The Rolling Stones, Michael Caine and Robert Palmer and the London School of Printing & Graphic Arts. Ærium acquired the building in 2012 and has carried out a comprehensive refurbishment in partnership with development manager Allied London.

Robin Carr, Co-chief Investment Officer at Ærium, added: “Herbal House provides an inspirational work space in a thriving part of London’s design scene and we believe the letting to IDEO is a strong endorsement of the type and quality of businesses we set out to attract with the refurbishment.”

Luis Cilimingras, Partner and Managing Director at IDEO London, said: “We’re excited to expand our presence in London with this move to Herbal House - an environment that’s creative and contemporary and that perfectly fits our culture and work style. We will create a welcoming and dynamic studio to host a diverse network of designers, technologists and business people, a place where we can keep fostering creativity as a competitive advantage for our clients.”

Nigel Wallnofer from Mallam London acted for IDEO LP, JLL acted for landlords, Aerium.
